"5 THINGS" (for £500)

i need £££, honey, so i'm constantly applying for funds; this question (5 things you wouldn't study abroad without) wasn't bad--- at least it's not that desert island tripe (which i did have to answer in a different app) and i totally stand by my answer:
"Studying abroad is essentially different to itinerant backpacking; rather than staying just to hit national landmarks with the rest of the tourist mob, stationary study allows a leisurely and in-depth relationship with a single city. And although I’ve yet to study abroad, if it’s anything like traveling, these are five things I wouldn’t dare go without:

1. Patience—For when the citizens scream proper nouns, like Aerosmith, meant to reference your hometown. Rather than frustration or confusion, maintain patience when settling into a new country, or you’ll risk homesickness and miss out on insights into new cultural lifestyles.
2. Curiosity—Leads to delightful discoveries; often forced from lack of funds, e.g. liverwurst (pâté of pencil erasers) is not only amazingly cheap and seemingly non-perishable, but also tastes amazing with bargain pumpernickel loaf.
3. Fake engagement ring—For those times when you just don’t feel like investing in an oriental rug hawked by a man whom called after you, “Angel of my dreams indeed!”
4. Flexibility—Culture shock, to some degree, will happen, no matter how much BBC America you watch, so be prepared to adapt. Like patience, flexibility is key in fully immersing yourself into a new environment.
5. Organization—Alarm clocks are available anywhere, but managing your time abroad is important. Even though you have a year to complete any and all European dreams, you must remember this year is first and foremost academic, not a resort all-inclusive. Managing priorities allows you to fully take advantage of all your new University has to offer."
